Project Gaia: The common mathematics

Another week has passed and we made a little progress. We even got a world map now!

Most of my time went into the Celestial Simulator again this week, with which we polished our little universe. The longer we use that thing, the more complicated the feature wishes become. At some point it will evolve as far as simulating every single molecule! NOT! Nevertheless it will still get a few features, that will help us with developing the world's history. You can download the latest version here (desktop only and German)!

For me this mostly meant struggling with math this week and I failed miserably....
I wanted the simulator to provide a camera option, which allows the user to "walk across the earth". Camera rotation is controlled by mouse movement and WASD control the movement on the planet. My goal is pressing W to move in the direction the camera is facing but I just didn't manage to convert that direction (a vector) into a spherical movement. If YOU dear reader can help me, please contact me (my email is written below)! I need help... and friends... and also: Like, comment, subscribe!

Even if the common mathematics held me back a little bit, Abe and I managed to complete some other task:

  • We went through our naming list of creation (a bunch of fantasy babble) and replaced working titles with real ones,
  • we revisited and redefined the general cultures of our world
  • and schematically defined how the early continent and the later continents look like and how they are named (see map above).

That's it for this week. Other not PG related and more private events naturally occurred, too but I was told to keep those out of a blog such as this one. So imma spare you! THANK ME!

Shabba labba ding dong!
